Reusable cups at Arcata Friday Night Market, in partnership with Bright & Green
On Fridays from August 21 through September 11, 2026, the Arcata Friday Night Market takes over the Arcata Plaza. Six Rivers Solar sponsors reusable dishware service there, and Bright and Green runs it. Bright and Green is a local waste reduction and reuse service working to make lower-waste events easier in Humboldt County. At events they replace single-use items with reusables, set up waste stations, hand-sort materials, and make sure compost, recycling and CRV reach the local facilities that can process them.
Putting something in a compost or CRV bin is only the beginning. Successful waste reduction takes good systems: clear signage, sorting, transportation, and local places that can actually process those materials.
How it works: Six Rivers Solar sponsors the service, Bright & Green does the work, the community takes part, less goes to landfill, and more green jobs are supported locally.
Bright & Green's wash hub is based at the Abundance Annex, a project from one of Six Rivers Solar's own owners. The hub runs on solar power with vehicle-to-home capability, using stored energy to keep operations running clean, right down to the hot water that washes each cup.
